Default Google Earth
Google Earth is a map of the world on steroids. You can zoom and glide over stitched together satellite photos of the world. Use Google Earth to find driving directions, find nearby restaurants, measure the distance between two locations, do serious research, or go on virtual vacations.

I guess google earth is some software for map, and google map is something we can use in web page only... They both work for the same service, satellite live image and the no move map, right? Google earth takes lot of RAM plus when it's working, takes lot of temporary space as well, I used to have it in my computer, then found it's slow, so I removed it and didn't install again, till now I'm using google map in web page only, not the software. :)

google maps also can show us the bird view, but this feature is more complete in google earth. One of the advantage of google earth is it can show information that is otherwise dry and academic in ways that are visually fascinating. Large databases of geological data can be transformed into 3D presentations that capture the imaginations of the rest of us.

Ohh I didn't know that, just think it's almost same as google map, the only difference is one is software and one is web page service... I know google earth has much more detailed information about USA itself, even shows Mcdonald and KFC etc. in the map, haha! For my city in China it just can tell some street, road, big hotel etc. :)

Google page is an expensive tool for navigation. But when it was launched, I read on news that it might create a threat to country's security measures as it showed all locations and major buidlings openly on the net. The terrorist can use it in negative terms.

i guess they have some protection on some important places such as military spaces, we can''t get the detail from Google Earth of Maps.
but admittedly, it can be easily to be used in bad things

I also read some news about that, they captured some military pics through satellite, those countries have to be responsible for their own security issue, need to use something to cover or mislead satellite I guess, otherwise anything could be seen by the satellite... However, for the better service user need to pay more money to google earth I guess...
