Using backlink or signature to promote your site can make some traffic to your site too.
With the right and interesting word, people can easily interested to find out more about your site / blog.

Backlins on signature will not only drive directly people from it to your site( for example each time a visitor or member sees a signature on o forum and clicks it to visit the page), but also helps driving traffic indirectly thanks to search engines spiders and crawlers creating more organic traffic from engines as google or yahoo to your site.

signature always is a good way to create a valueble backlink.
but you need to keep active posting in the forum to let other member to see your signature.

Hmm, I'm still not that familiar with backlink yet, I right now only know I can put my blogs in the signature to make backlink, is this the only way for backlink? Is there any other way? How to creat backlink in big site like Yahoo?

lindazhao, just puttinh your link in the forum is not enough, you may ask for link exchange with other sites to create more backlink.

Also in order to create more backlinks you can:

Submit your site to link directories (free and payd).

Sponsoring or developing WP themes, Forum's skins, Joomla interfaces and so on with a backlink to your site.

Using articles with anchored links to your site and sending them to as many article directories as you can.

Finding Follow=link blogs and posting or commenting there.

Using social networks as Digg, Pageflakes, Myspace and so on.

And many more...

Hi masterweb, thanks for the useful tips... I am asking to get clearer about the contents you wrote here... I wanna know what are WP themes, and Joomla interfaces, first time I see WP themes, don't know what it is all about, and I might heard of Joomla somewhere, but didn't pay attention to it at all...
