Just adding one more tip:

Never login into your system OS using admin power. Always use limited user for general surfing purpose.

Well they can, not all but i know some of good antivir like Spyware Doctor, Spybot search & destroy which you can immunize unwanted material so when you browsing pages that contain unwanted material, Spybot Search & Destroy can immediately blocking it, and NOD32 which quickly removing it without asking (if you have set that in preference)
