Individual security
Are individual systems in danger of being hacked? If so, how can an individual protect their information?

Use firewall i think. It can be used to protect your system information.

use GOOD firewall..
sont run any EXE files..and have a good antivirus..what will protect you from gettin a trojen or spyware

firewall should good enugh to protect yourself, unless you always simply visit any websites.

m sorry...i mean donot run any exe files which looks suspicious...or the source is not legit...coz there are thousands of softs available which binds the dangerous trojens in the useful softwares and wen u execute the soft..the trojen also get installed on ur system

Also avoid openning any link inside of spam mails...if you receive emails targetting to unknown sites then don't open these links !.

Well, if you don't have anything of commercial value, then probably not. People attack a system just to get a piece of information they can use to profit. So I think you're safe.

But even if you haven't any commercial info stored into your hard disk, if you use Paypal as example to transfer or pay online then you must be protected against attacks, so install a good antivirus / antispiware. Keep it updated and run it frequently just in case...

Individual system are more vulnerable for being hacked, here are the best tips to protect yourself
1. Never give your password to anyone even to your friend
2. Never click any link in chat, site that you yourself doesn;t even know what is that link for
3. When you use Firewall, never accept any unknown port that attempt to enter to your system
4. Don go to porn site or hacking site
5. Don open Spam email and never open attachment
6. Install Antivirus and update it regulary
7. Implement 256-bit SSL encryption to your Internet
8. Implement 128-bit encryption for your password, you could do this on Gpedit.msc
9. Use variety number, letter, and special character on your password
10. Do not give your personal Information to anyone, hacker can find your password by answering security question
11. If possible, create two account on your computer, one for your guest, and one for yourself
12. Do not click unknown file, if you found it, delete it!!
13. If possible, change your IP address regulary
14. Always scan antivirus at least once in a week
