Simply adding to the number of backlinks might not be that helpful for boosting the websites PR because when you decide increasing your site's PageRank, some quality links from high PR sites would do the job and it might not be like counting thousands of links pointing at certain web pages and then assuming they would be having a high PageRank in the next update.

this is true, but no matter how, i should not miss any chance that can increase the number of backlink of our site, we will never know maybe the backlink will help us so much in the future.

I agree, can't say high PR definitely comes if we have lots of backlinks in other sites, maybe if we put backlinks in high PR site, it would give some help... Anyway I just can try best to add backlinks, and PR result doesn't depend on me, so I don't have to think about it just keep watching, hehe. :)

Ohh really? I thought backlink also helps improving PR, didn't know it's also beneficial for bringing traffic, hehe... So far I think the most important thing for getting good PR is trying to get more and more backlinks, especially good quality backlinks, isn't it?

Even I think getting more quality back links can help a lot in SEO. I just searched for my website name and guess what !! On the very first page, I saw OWM threads where I have mentioned about my Website.

Thus, linking with Good PR sites shall be very useful to get a high PR.

Well then what are the factors responsible for getting in to top of Google search ? Is it PR or traffic? My site doesnot have a PR but ranks at the top of google.co.in.

PR is base on the volume of quality backlinks but has nothing to do with serp.. But by pagerank, it measure's a web page's vitality.

PR is calculated by the number of backlinks + them backlinks qaulity, so if you have 3 PR6 backlinks you will most likely get a PR4 or 5 Maybe a 6 if your really lucky . If you have 10,000 PR0 , PR1 , PR2's etc you will most likely get a PR2 or 3 .

So the best way to look at it is the Higher PR backlinks you have pointing to your site the higher your site will be.
