Thread: Alert- phishing E-mail asks to update Outlook

TrendMicro’s TrendLabs identified a phishing e-mail message (see below) which asked the recipient to update Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express. Here’s how the e-mail message starts out:

“Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express. This update is critical and provides you with the latest version of the Microsoft Outlook/Outlook Express and offers the highest levels of stability and security.”

On a scale of one to 10 the authenticity of this scam e-mail is a nine. It’s very realistic, even the Contact Us, Privacy Statement, and Terms of Use active links direct you to the appropriate Microsoft Web pages.


There’s no clear cut solution other than to not click on any active link. That’s not always possible though. In which case, please use caution and try the tips I suggested in my linked article.

I receive this message at least 10 times a day (i have more than 15 email address) and that's really boring

I don't use outlook at all, also not so familiar with it, not so many people here use outlook, so I don't have any experience about it, haha! How to set an outlook email address? Through my IP address? I do receive some phishing email about my Yahoo account though. :)

u have 3 e-mail and i failed to setup my MS outlook, i still looking for someone to help me.
after that i will follow these instructions also.

Don't know what to do with this sort of emails. I am sure some day we are going to fall in trap no matter how much we are aware about such emails.

Hehe, nothing I can do just keep reading some security tips online, and try to be careful all the time, since I already learned a good lesson, lost my lr password through one phishing email, fortunately there was just less than $10 in the balance, still some loss though, hehe. :)
